When your life is in the hands of strangers
UmedRecord

8. Why should I choose UMED over other similar services?

There is no other service like UMED. UMED is the only service designed by physicians, with a Hot Line staffed by health care professionals, that provides a secure, 24 hour access to your full medical history. No other service can give you the kind of reassurance, peace of mind, and control that UMED can!

9. When can I call UMED?

Our toll-free telephone number is open twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week.

10.  How often can I call UMED?

You may call us as often as you like to update or access your record (physician updates for CRS are available for an additional charge).

11.  Is my record available in foreign languages?

Yes, conversations with our nurses can be translated into over 140 different languages.

12. Can I register a friend or relative with UMED?

Yes.  You may purchase a membership and obtain a questionnaire, membership card and password for another person.  However, the individual must sign and complete the questionnaire - unless you are the person's legal guardian.

13.  How long will it take to complete the questionnaire?

If you are a regular, healthy person your questionnaire should take about fifteen (15) to thirty (30) minutes to complete.  If you have more detailed or complex medical conditions, it may take longer and we would advise you to verify the information with your doctor.

14.   Why would UMED help me?

Right now, medical records in North America are disjointed.  There is no central place where your medical history is stored.  Some of it is at your doctor's office, but if you have been to the hospital or a clinic, or to another doctor or specialist, then some of your history is likely to be there.

UMED helps by providing the peace of mind that all the medical information necessary is available, all the time and on the spot.  This includes simple things like when you change doctors and have to complete a new set of forms or, in emergencies when you are sick and unable to communicate.  Access to this information helps guarantee that you get the best care by ensuring that your doctor can make the right diagnosis based on the most complete information. Ask you doctor.  He/She will tell you the value of a complete medical history.
